Pasteur Foundation Undergraduate Fellowship
Who Can Apply: U.S. Citizens – Have completed three full years (six semesters) of college course work by the time the internship commences (be a rising senior) – GPA of 3.5 or higher recommended – Major or strong coursework in biosciences or related fields.
IMPORTANT: Ability to speak, read or write French is NOT a pre-requisite for this program, although a strong interest in learning French is expected.
Description: The Pasteur Foundation Summer Internship Program enables U.S. undergraduates to conduct 10-week summer internships at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France. Inaugurated in 1888 by Louis Pasteur and located in the heart of Paris, the Institut Pasteur is one of the world's leading biomedical research organizations. With more than 130 laboratories and 2,600 people on campus, it is a vibrant, international community devoted to basic scientific research primarily in the area of infectious disease. Our goal is to encourage students in the pursuit of a scientific career and to expose them to an international laboratory experience.
Research fields at the Institut Pasteur include genetics, bacteriology, molecular and cellular biology, dynamic imaging and retrovirology. During the internships, interns will carry out research supervised by a lab mentor.
Award Amount: Interns will receive $6,500 paid in two installments and which must cover travel, housing and all living expenses.
Duration: 10 weeks during the summer.

Program Preferences: IMPORTANT: It is recommended that applicants have a very strong interest in bioscience/biomedicine and an excellent academic record; prior lab experience is also highly recommended.
Applicants should be eager to immerse in a different culture, and self-sufficient enough to arrange travel and secure housing in Paris. Depending on availability, affordable housing in a residence on campus may be possible.
