Kosciuszko Foundation Year Abroad Program

Who Can Apply: US citizens, permanent residents -- sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students – all majors – GPA of 3.0 or higher required.

NOTE: Applicants of Polish descent preferred. Students who have Polish citizenship are not eligible. 

Description: This scholarship supports semester and year-long Polish language studies with funding from the Polish Ministry of Education and Sports and the Kosciuszko Foundation. Studies take place during the academic year at the Center of Polish Language and Culture in the World. Located in the heart of Cracow’s Old City, the Center for Polish Language and Culture in the World is a division of the Jagiellonian University, Poland’s oldest university and one of its most prestigious.

The language program is an intense, full-immersion program supplemented with area studies courses. All language classes are in Polish, while area studies courses are offered in English and Polish. Students may live in university dormitories within a short tram ride from the Center, or they may rent their own apartments.

Award: The Polish Ministry provides scholarship recipients with admission to the program, a tuition waiver and 1,350 zloty per month for living expenses. Additional funding of $900 per semester is awarded by the Kosciuszko Foundation. Airfare is not covered by the scholarship.
